Exhibitions in Dublin

Upstarts is a programme run by ICAD for up-and-coming graphic designers and advertisers. A group of about 30 or so "upstarts" spend six weeks working and workshopping in six design or advertising companies and it all culminates in an exhibition, this time opening in Space@Rothco on 3rd November and running until the 10th.

The Irish Furniture Designers Network and Design Principles are hosting a number of events such as seminars and workshops (including a Kvadrat workshop for design students - probably the only reason I might wish I hadn't just graduated) culminating in an exhibition on the 6th and 7th November at D-Light Studios on North Great Clarence Street. The exhibition will feature some of the conclusions reached in the IFDN's Heritage workshop earlier in the week, as well as new work from IFDN members, including Unleaded and i like local* favourites Vaugh Shannon.

Also opening on the 6th is Maximum Meaning Minimum Means: Abram Games in NCAD Gallery, Thomas Street which will go on until January (so no rush, I guess). Games is one of the foremost British graphic designers of the post-war era, and I'm really looking forward to seeing his work in the flesh. Whether you (or I, for that matter) get to it during DW or not, it's still a must if you're in the Design Week spirit!
