Superfolk at Stockholm

Home again!...ish.. Here's a post about an Irish design studio, Superfolk, on its way to the Stockholm Furniture Fair, from tomorrow until the 13th February. Superfolk, run by Gearoid Muldowney, is showing a table, stools, a lamp and a series of handmade wallpapers in Greenhouse, the Furniture Fair's platform for graduates and newly-formed studios. Pictured are Stools and table (pictures courtesy of Superfolk).

Superfolk aims to design products that return to the principles of Irish vernacular furniture: simple products that can be used in a number of ways. Using locally-sourced materials (such as timber from the Lisnavagh Timber Project, Carlow) Gearoid makes products such as Stools by hand, keeping the cost down by using off-cuts and reclaimed materials, in order to take the handmade objects out of the realm of display objects and put them back into everyday use. Products such as Stools and Table are also designed with multiple uses in mind, keeping them informal and fun, and allowing the user to get the most out of them.

Pictured below is the whole range that will be on display in Stockholm, but if you can't make it to see it there, visit the website: it's the next best thing :)
